DESIGNER DEALS
by Mary Lawlor
Shearling coats are in for fall, so
if you're in the market for one, check out the collection
at Second Time Around. This contemporary,
design consignment store sells both new and used fashions
and features a grouping of brand new shearlings that range
from three-quarter to ankle lengths-some even have fur trim
collars and cuffs. Today, quality shearlings at high-end
stores retail from $2,500-3,000, but at Second Time Around
they start at $299.
"Shearlings used to be
heavy, but the quality ones are lightweight and warm,"
says owner Jeffrey Casler, whose family has been in the
retail business for three decades.
Casller knows the fashion game, he
shops the market, keeps up with trends and has a talent
for choosing consignment merchandise that flies out of the
store.
For example, a pair of designer
jeans
that is priced at $120 in most stores sells for $52
at Second Time Around. Designer scarves that normally
go for
$300 are marked at $118.
"Our scarves are used, but
excellent condition. Women who buy designer scarves
take good care
of them. Matter of fact, we have a waiting list,"
he adds.
If all this doesn't
tempt you to be a frugal shopper, get the full fashion scoop
on consignment clothes at secondtimearound.net - you can
even do a search for the designer item of your dreams.
